Bowmans folds are an important sign of clinically significant hypotony.  The sign is elicited using 2% fluorescein and observing at the slitlamp using the cobalt blue filter.  If seen, this is an indication that the intraocular pressure is less than 6 mmHg and is particularly useful when it is not possible to perform applanation tonometry.
